Gary Bowers earned a BFA from the Maryland Institute, College of Art with a magna cum laude’ honors in 1994. After graduation, he had several successful exhibits at Goucher College, Harbor Court in Baltimore, and Swinney’s Bluff Side Gallery in Louisville, KY.In 2002, Gary moved to the Washington, DC area to continue building his career as an artist. That year, Gary met the artist and art instructor, Rob Vander Zee. Since then, Rob has helped guide Gary to discover his own voice and personal painting style.
In 2006, Gary graduated from the Vander Zee School of Painting with honors. He now has a painting studio and gallery space in historic Old Town, Alexandria, where he continues to develop as a painter.
In May of 2009, Gary has been invited to exhibit his paintings in Vilnius, Lithuania as a part of the European Union’s Celebration of the Arts.
Gary’s work is quickly finding it’s way into many private collections and galleries in the Mid-Atlantic region.
